Take a peek inside our latest project: Springfield Healthcare – Mayfield View

With help from our stunning designs and bespoke services, this luxury care home has been furnished to the highest standard

Set in the heart of one of the UK’s most historic spa towns, Mayfield View is a new care home designed to offer a truly luxurious environment to its residents – with a little help from the high quality furniture supplied by the team here at YTM. The care home, set in Ilkley, opened in September 2018, offering services by an award-winning team and staffed by an experienced and professional care team within a comfortable yet chic setting.

Speaking directly to prospective residents ahead of the care home opening, general manager at Mayfield View, Donna Laird, said:

“I can’t wait to share our beautiful home with you and for you to meet our handpicked team of caring and experienced staff. I know that the atmosphere here will help you instantly feel at home.”

As a 5* accommodation, the aim of Mayfield View is to allow residents to live as independently as possible in a luxury environment intended to bring the outside in. An array of spectacularly designed gardens creates the setting for this meticulous care home, offering an elevated quality of life for all residents, whether they are living with dementia, complex medical conditions or simply require support with day-to-day living.

In order to make their vision a reality, the team behind Mayfield View turned to YTM as their contract furniture provider. Our dedication to the highest standard of furniture manufacture means that we not only create pieces that are aesthetically pleasing and highly comfortable but also durable. Our aim has always been to give care home residents a hotel-standard of luxury to enjoy, making us the natural choice for a high-end care home such as Mayfield View.

Each room in Mayfield View has been immaculately finished to reflect a different luxurious and whimsical theme that celebrates the local area. The lower ground floor offers spaces created in the style of Ilkley’s White Wells spa bath, using aquatic blues, kingfisher greens and sunny yellows to hark back to Ilkley’s Roman spas. In contrast, the ground floor takes the sweeping natural landscape of Ilkley Moor as its inspiration with dramatic touches and earthy tones.

A soft romantic theme on the first floor allows the décor to celebrate the life and work of Charlotte Bronte – one of the three Bronte sisters whose timeless novels have made them firm Yorkshire favourites as well as global icons. On the second floor, tropical botanical prints and themes form the backdrop of a Darwin Gardens theme, another of Ilkley’s popular attractions. Finally, Ilkley’s famous Hanging Stones act as the influence behind the third floor’s striking design, using bronze elements and gold tones to reflect the historical elegance of Bronze age carvings.

Expressing his own excitement for the project, YTM graphic designer Alex Thornhill commented:

“We’re thrilled with the final look of Mayfield View. Our brief at this care home was to bring sophistication and luxury without compromising on the level of functionality demanded in a care setting. The result is a hotel-standard facility with clear, considered themes and styling that combine to make life all the more enjoyable for residents.

“For this reason, Mayfield View feels exceptionally special. Taking inspiration from the surrounding area has allowed us to create unique, identifiable themes, while our high quality pieces ensure that comfort is never sacrificed. We understand that practicality is more important in a care home environment than in most establishments, which is why our designs are durable as well as decadent and dynamic.”

Both the communal and bedroom spaces within Mayfield View feature many of YTM’s signature furniture items, including this Herring sideboard. The striking geometric design of this piece makes it the perfect addition to any retro or botanical inspired setting, be it within a luxury dining area or positioned next to an occasional window seat. Practically speaking, it also provides plenty of storage space, allowing the area itself to be kept free from clutter.

Colour was another key consideration in Mayfield View’s design, as seen here in this relaxing bedroom environment which uses playful purple tones against a lighter backdrop. By using muted colour tones rather than a wholly neutral design, the bedroom becomes a more memorable and exciting environment while still making the most of the natural light pouring in. Our Vienna dressing table injects the space with all the charm of a country cottage, mixing cream cabinets with warm wood grain.

Again, colour consideration has played a part in the design of this space. The mixture of light blue tones with neutral hues and modern greys creates a cool, inviting atmosphere resulting in a room with both a modern and familiar. The elegant simpicity of our Francis rectangular coffee table elevates the high-end décor, bringing a touch of contemporary flair with both surface and under-level storage space.

A range of elegant dining areas act as some of Mayfield View’s many attractive focal points, with plenty of space to encourage socialisation and communication between residents. Here, a pair of our Charles Classic wing chairs take on a more modern look with rich yellow upholstery. Our Classic family of seating has been designed to offer a tasteful feel which doesn’t shy away from a touch of grandeur. This makes it eprfectly suited to welcoming residents into The Mayfield Arms – a pub where they can relax, unwind and socialise.

Dividing screens, bold print wallpapers, green botanical elements and thoroughly modern light fixtures help Mayfield View banish the stigma of care homes being stuffy and old fashioned. This is luxury living for those in need of a home away from home, and our Anastasia side and armchairs provide a comfortable hub for conversation and dining.

The closer you look, the more apparent the high level of elegance and quality becomes at Mayfield View. The immaculate finishes on these marble-effect dining tables reveal the highest standard of excellence in every aspect of design.

Likewise, a closer look at the light fixtures reveal a floor-to-ceiling dedication to quality. These abstract, gold light fixtures manage to bring contemporary chicness and nostalgic design together in perfect harmony.  Harking back to the iconic Sputnik designs of the mid-century modern movement, these fixtures also provide any room with plenty of light for a warm, ambient glow.

Boasting fantastic views of the moors and gardens, Springfield Healthcare – Mayfield View’s four storeys of stunning accommodation have been designed to the highest possible standard, with large and comfortable day spaces, superb dining facilities and tastefully decorated bedrooms all with en-suite facilities. There is also a cinema, hairdressing salon and a nail bar for residents to frequent and enjoy.
