YTM Furniture create a scene at the Care Show Bournemouth 2010

YTM Furniture had our best year yet at the Care Show Bournemouth last week and we had plenty more to offer than just our furniture, demonstrating the extent to which we can apply originality and innovation to manufacturing.

This year our main focus lies on dementia care, and YTM are the first contract manufacturer to offer both furniture and advice to help care homes provide an environment that is as creative as it is safe and supportive. At the Care Show we presented a complete concept that can be applied within dementia care facilities, over and above simply providing furniture.  Here are some examples of what we did at the exhibition:

  • a corridor scenario included the use of contrasting colours on handrails and bedroom doors, with the addition of a dementia memory box, to help residents to recognise their own room, and to distinguish between different areas within their environment.
  • to present the reminiscence principle YTM developed an old fashioned sweet shop fascia with the intention of creating a community scene that residents would have been familiar with in an earlier period of their lives, therefore stimulating the memory.  And complete with traditional sweets it was a fun trip down memory lane!
  • the reminiscence room demonstrated how YTM really can provide a full complete solution, including furniture, soft furnishings, flooring, lighting and all necessary accessories and decorations to create whatever look you aspire to for your care home design.  Even the YTM team dressed in 1950’s costumes to blend in!
